UMASS BOSTON
- Since 1974, UMass Boston has worked in partnership with Dorchester High School (and since 2002, with the two academies that comprise the Dorchester Education Complex) to provide numerous resources to its students, faculty, and administrators. The only public university in the city, the University of Massachusetts Boston is nationally recognized for its community involvement as a model of excellence for urban universities.The mission of the partnership—to prepare all Dorchester students to successfully pursue post-secondary education--is carried out principally by two units at UMass Boston: the Graduate College of Education and the Pre-Collegiate Programs.

TJX CORPORATION - TJX is our most visible business partner and the one our students will meet most often. TJX Corporation includes TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Bobs, Home Goods, and A.J. Wright stores. The staff at the headquarters in Framingham Massachusets provides field trips and workshops for students in grades 9 – 12. In addition, TJX donates scholarship monies to our graduating seniors and provides marketing consulting services to the school.

THE TREFLER FOUNDATION - The Trefler Foundation is a private family foundation established by Pam and Alan Trefler in 1996.  The mission of the foundation is to improve the education and access to higher education for Boston's district high school students by creating and supporting partnerships with local universities, non-profits and businesses.  The Foundation has funded a partnership between Dorchester Education Complex and UMB/Boston.

 

CODMAN SQUARE SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CENTER - DORCHESTER EDUCATION COMPLEX CLINIC

MASSACHUSETTS COLLEGE ADVISING CORPS is a collaborative program that hires recent college graduates to work as full-time college advisers in high schools across the state, including Dorchester Academy. The aim of the Corps is to increase college enrollment rates and prepare students for college success, helping to ensure that higher education is an attainable goal for all, regardless of socioeconomic status. The adviser at Dorchester Academy provides one-to-one college application guidance to low-income and first-generation students while working with UMass Boston to raise awareness and strengthen the college access pipeline.

GRACE STREET/CAMBRIDGE FOURSQUARE CHURCH - Bringing teams of up to 6 tutors twice a week, Grace Street offers help to the teachers in reinforcing concepts taught and offering assistance with the student’s class work and homework.  Tutors from Grace Street work diligently to encourage and challenge the students praising them for their accomplishments and nudging them to try, care, and persevere. The tutors reinforce good choices, commend good effort and attempts, and challenge students to make good choices in their work and attitudes. 

SOVEREIGN BANK – Dorchester Academy is partnered with the distribution center branch of the bank located at the intersection of Morrissey Boulevard and Mt. Vernon Street in Dorchester. Sovereign Bank provides internships to our students through the Boston ProTech program. They also provide MCAS support to upper classmen through Classroom-in-the-Workplace

PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL (PIC) – The Boston Private Industry Council serves to connect the youth and adults of Boston with careers in the mainstream economy by providing jobs, internships and work related learning opportunities to students.  The PIC connects students to private sector jobs during the summer, after school and after graduation.
